Power of the People: How to Mobilize a Movement

  • University of Chicago, International House 1414 E. 59th St. Chicago, IL (map)

In this discussion at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics, Micah White will explore best practices on how to organize a movement, if protests are the most effective way to enact change, and how electoral politics factor in a successful organization. The discussion will lead to one central question-What is the future of activism?

About the Institute of Politics

Created by former White House Senior Advisor and Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod (AB ’76), the Institute of Politics formally opened in January 2013. The goal of the Institute is to enrich the political discourse and to help inspire a new generation of leaders by providing opportunities for students to engage with the leading public servants and political practitioners of our time. The Institute seeks to do this through three principal means: 1) Public lectures and panel discussions; 2) A program for visiting fellows; and 3) Student internships and civic engagement opportunities.
